Thai girls and their makeup = WTF
This picture might have saved my relationship way back when! You see, in the beginning stages of my relationship with my current girlfriend, there were a few nights where her makeup job was an abomination. So I nicely told her that she’s too beautiful to put that much crap on her face. She giggled and took it as a compliment, and then pounded on even more makeup the next time I took her out. The girl has no skin problems and she has a lovely natural color to her face, which just made the whole situation that much more frustrating. Normally she doesn’t wear makeup, and nobody really took her out for a night on the town prior to meeting me. So when we were in the phase of going out to nice dinners all over the country, she felt compelled to do what many Thai women do when they go out, which is to make themselves look like a retarded geisha. She took this cute and near flawless face and made it look completely ridiculous. I was sick of it, and my “nice” attempts at alerting her to the issue weren’t working. So finally I sat her down and in a much more series tone I said, “look, please stop putting so much make up on your face when we go out. “ She again tried to laugh me off, so I pulled up this picture of the character, “It,” from Stephen King’s movie by the same name. I said, “When we go out you look more like this than you look like your real self.” She has a good sense of humor, so she was a good sport about it. She was still laughing, but this time she assured me that she understood that I wasn’t completely joking. From then on, thankfully, she really toned it down with the makeup. I only have this picture to thank for actually getting through to her!
I’ve seen some people try to make the “Thai girls with too much makeup” thing into a “bar girl” thing. Too much makeup in this country is not exclusive to the bar girls, far from it. It’s just that bar girls go crazy with the makeup every single night of their lives, while many other Thai girls only go crazy with it when they’re going out to a nice place or for a true night out. And since the bar girls do it every single night, some of them are actually better at applying makeup than the non-bar girls, who have no experience and no idea.
As far as the bar girls go, a lot of them get caught up in a vicious cycle with makeup. They wear too much cheap sh*t makeup, which causes damage to their face, and then they put even more makeup on to conceal the damage. Some of them are out drinking so late, that they pass out on certain nights before they get a chance to wash the makeup off of their face. Too many of them rely on makeup as a tool to “cover up,” instead of trying to eliminate the problems by taking better care of themselves. Seeing some them the morning after can be quite the sobering experience!
If your girlfriend puts makeup on like an absolute as*hole, here are a few suggestions to help her out.
1) There’s a ton of good videos on YouTube for how to properly apply makeup. Since it’s likely that nobody who has any clue on the subject has ever taught your girl what to do, put her in front of an expert on YouTube and she may actually become proficient.
2) Buy her some good quality stuff. Makeup isn’t the item to be cheap with, but not enough Thai girls realize that. The better quality stuff is much better for their face and it can look a lot better as well. Take her to a department store and get her the good stuff.
3) The eyebrows are a particular area of concern to Thai girls; many of them are either born with very thin eye brows or they thin them out by messing with them too much over time. When they draw them in nice and thick it starts to look awful. Touching up the eyebrow without looking like clown is an important technique you can make them learn on YouTube.
